Who I see & How I work... |
Services for clients...
I have had many years of experience working with children, young people and adults, as individuals, families and groups, in a variety of settings. I am committed to helping you to foster the skills to navigate and tolerate challenges, in order for you to enjoy life and live according to your values and beliefs. I have a particular interest in working with people who also have a disability, their families, and carers.
I have extensive experience in cognitive and academic assessment, as well as for emotional and behavioural issues. I have a particular interest in assessment for neurodevelopmental disorders, such as intellectual disability, specific learning disorders and ADHD, with a focus on assisting people to access additional support, such as through school, the NDIS or for other government assistance, such as the Disability Support Pension, and to provide clarity on relevant and targeted intervention.
With counselling intervention, I am motivated by others’ lived experience and assisting people to advocate for themselves, and can help with a variety of issues that can impact on mental health and wellbeing, including:

New to seeing a psychologist?
Seeing a psychologist for counselling provides you with an opportunity to explore issues in an environment where you feel safe to do so. Counselling is a collaborative process that is very dynamic and can at times be challenging as you navigate difficulties, see things from other perspectives and highlight your values.
My role is to assist you through this process without judgement- sometimes it may seem like we're having a conversation, sometimes I may be directive and informative and sometimes you may feel challenged and uncomfortable. That's okay, as long as you are in an environment where boundaries are clear, and you feel like you can openly explore what has brought you to see me. During counselling, we set agreed goals that we work towards to support you in achieving preferred outcomes or enabling you to position yourself to strive for future hopes. Sometimes these goals need to be adapted as we progress and you become clearer on what is important for you.
