Rebecca Monk, Principal Psychologist
With over 15 years of experience as a psychologist, Rebecca has worked in a variety of settings with children, young people and adults in individual and family sessions. Rebecca is trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focussed Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
Rebecca tailors interventions according to your needs, and has a respectful, collaborative approach which separates a person from the identified problem. Rebecca explores contextual factors in your life and how problems have impacted on your experiences. Through this process, she assists you in highlighting your values, skills and ability to see things from different perspectives. |
Importantly, Rebecca assists in developing and holding on to the strategies and beliefs that enable you to live a fulfilling life. Rebecca provides professional development to school staff on mental health, educational and developmental issues. She also provides peer consultation to psychologists and is currently undertaking the Psychology Board of Australia's supervision training for provisionally registered psychologists.
Qualifications...
Rebecca graduated from Macquarie University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Psychology Honours degree, and completed psychology training in 2006 following a number of years working in education, community health, juvenile justice and private consultancy work.
In this time, Rebecca specialised in working with young people and families. She completed a Masters degree in Social Health and Counselling through Macquarie University in 2008, specialising in Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Working with Children and Families. In 2015, Rebecca completed a Master of Teaching (School Counselling) degree, which led to working in the school environment. It is a privilege to work in a specialised role of School Counsellor, where cognitive, emotional, behavioural and educational assessments and intervention are undertaken for children, young people and families. |

I am motivated by others’ lived experience and am attuned to noticing how people shift from being defined by negative influences and start to advocate for themselves. My focus for intervention is to assist in improving a person's wellbeing and quality of life.

Rebecca is fully registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and an associate member of the Australian Psychological Society. She is also a qualified teacher and has a current Working With Children Check. Rebecca is bound by the professional, legal and ethical guidelines set by these organisations.
Rebecca is also a Board-endorsed clinical supervisor for provisionally registered psychologists, and provides peer consultation and supervision to fully qualified psychologists.
